U.S. to Become Net Exporter of NG

August 31, 2017

The Energy Information Administration projects that the U.S. will become an annual net exporter of natural gas in 2017. The U.S. has been a net importer for nearly 60 years; however, domestic fracking has recently positioned our country as the largest producer of natural gas in the world.

As America exports more of its natural gas supply, domestic natural gas prices are expected to increase. Cheap natural gas has been the driver for falling electricity rates; as exports rise, commercial and residential electricity prices will move higher as well.
